The analysis, design and construction of Offshore Structures is arguably the most demanding set of tasks faced by the engineering profession. Over and above hostile conditions, offshore structures have the added complication of being placed in an ocean environment where hydrodynamic interaction effects and dynamic response become major considerations in their design.
In the 21st Century, more reserves are being discovered in deep water, the technology needed to design and build deep-ocean compliant structures, such as tension leg platforms, continues to evolve to meet technical and economic needs for deepwater development. This rapid evolution in technology needs to be independently verified to ensure continued safety of operations and protection of the environment. What are some of the key developments in modular construction in the past decade? Modules appear to be the way forward but what are some of the setbacks encountered with the process? This 3 day workshop will explore and deliver the finer points of design and construction excellence involving offshore structures.
